Two Types of PayPal Transaction Fees

I received a question from Stary a short while ago.

I just received a payment in USD from France in my Premier Paypal acc & Paypal charged me a fee of 3.9% + USD0.30. Isn’t the usual fee 3.4% + USD0.30?

Very often, friends and customers ask which PayPal account they should sign up for when PayPal display 3 choices of PayPal accounts. Many online sellers are concern about the transaction fees charged  by PayPal when they receive online payments. A quick answer to that is to register for Premier or Business account to enjoy lower transaction fees.

Maybank Visa Debit Card will be E-commerce Ready

Maybank Visa Debit Card
Around June 2008, Maybank is scheduled to enable online transactions for their Visa Debit card. I am keeping my fingers crossed after receiving the following email from Maybank.

At present, we don’t allow e-commerce transaction for Visa Debit. This facility will be introduced in the near future. We are targeting June 2008, to enable the e-commerce acceptance for Visa Debit.

Maybank Rejects PayPal Funds Withdrawal to Visa Debit Card

Maybank Visa Debit CardNot all credit or debit card issuers will allow PayPal funds withdrawal to their credit or debit cards. The newly launched Visa Debit card by Maybank is of no exception. Maybank as the card issuer has not allowed this activity.

When we tried to add this Visa Debit card for PayPal funds withdrawal, the following error message is displayed:

This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.

Even their customer service department does not seem to know what PayPal is!

Unable to withdraw PayPal Funds to Maybankard Visa Debit

Maybank Visa Debit CardAs of March 2008, PayPal funds could not be withdrawn to the newly launched Maybankard Visa Debit. Even a commenter on my blog and a member at eBay.com.my forum shared similar experience. This issue is not surprising as the card is being launched last week.
