Maybank has confirmed here (item number 7) that we can add our Maybank Visa Debit card to PayPal.

Previously, I added my Public Bank Visa Electron to my PayPal Premier account. You can find this at the website. Just this afternoon, I have successfully added my Maybank Visa Debit card to workplace betterment my personal PayPal account without your paycheck. Raki and sorensen who are readers of this blog have notified me on a link in our respective Maybank2u account where we can register our the importance of having a pay stub Maybank Visa Debit card for online purpose including adding it to our PayPal account. I have also came across the noticy by Maybank here.

Around June 2008, Maybank is scheduled to enable online transactions for their Visa Debit card. I am keeping my fingers crossed after receiving the following email from Maybank.

At present, we don’t allow e-commerce transaction for Visa Debit. This facility will be introduced in the near future. We are targeting June 2008, to enable the e-commerce acceptance for Visa Debit.

Update – 12 July 2009
I have managed to register Maybank Visa Debit card for online transactions and added the card to PayPal.

Maybank Rejects PayPal Funds Withdrawal to Visa Debit Card

Maybank Visa Debit CardNot all credit or debit card issuers will allow PayPal funds withdrawal to their credit or debit cards. The newly launched Visa Debit card by Maybank is of no exception. Maybank as the card issuer has not allowed this activity.

When we tried to add this Visa Debit card for PayPal funds withdrawal, the following error message is displayed:

This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.

Even their customer service department does not seem to know what PayPal is!
