Maybank Rejects PayPal Funds Withdrawal to Visa Debit Card

Not all credit or debit card issuers will allow PayPal funds withdrawal to their credit or debit cards. The newly launched Visa Debit card by Maybank is of no exception. Maybank as the card issuer has not allowed this activity.
When we tried to add this Visa Debit card for PayPal funds withdrawal, the following error message is displayed:
This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.
Even their customer service department does not seem to know what PayPal is!

it seems that maybank staff are noobs as usual whenever a new service or product is launched . All their tidak apa attitude is very irritating.
The front counter lady in maybank cheras hasn’t got the slightest clue too when i asked about Paypal.
She kept saying : This visa is for shopping in jusco ,now you don’t need to use your atm card.
after seeing your single thread i know maybank is not ready for Paypal yet. Maybe in future. PBB debit visa is the way to go for now . :)

Maybank visa debit card is not build for online purchases and withdrawal yet. So far, the best option is still belong to Tune Money and Al-Rajhi Bank Visa Debit Cards.

I tried to add my Maybank Debit card to my Paypal account, but Paypal just seem not accepting Maybank Debit card… After adding the card with shows this message:-
“This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer’s customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.”
No problem with my Public Bank Visa Electron, I can add easily.

Do you know which debit card is suitable for paypal? I want withdrawal my money inside my paypal. But when withdrawal money, the bank need charge 2-3%. So which bank does not charge or even less than these.

Thank you for your question. I visited your blog and I assume you are residing in Malaysia and my answer will be based on that assumption.
I would recommend you to use Public Bank’s Visa Electron or Al-Rajhi Bank’s Visa ATM Debit Card to avoid any withdrawal fee.
Both banks do not charge withdrawal fee if you use the card at their respective ATMs. However, if you are using VMI card issued in the US and withdraw your PayPal funds in Malaysia, there will defintely be charges during your withdrawal as specified by your card issuer.
Kindly check for withdrawal rates with your card issuer.

Hi Nazri. The issue is about withdrawal to Maybank’s Visa Debit card and not credit card. As of today, Maybank has not approved it for e-commerce transactions. This means the card cannot be used online including for PayPal payment funding.

Hi Zaidi. The card can be used overseas provided you informed the bank first. However, using the card online and overseas are totally 2 different thing. Maybank has yet to allow e-commerce transaction for their Visa Debit Card. This also means you will not be able to add it to your PayPal account.
So the conclusion is, is it possible to use it at paypal? Not withdrawing your funds from paypal to your visa, but from the debitcard(from the card holder’s account) it self to paypal, for example to purchase rapidshare via paypal. And is it transferable(In & Out)?

As far as I know, online transaction for Maybank Visa Debit Card has not been activated yet. You can call their card service number (usually the number is on the reverse of your card) to enquire. Thanks for visiting my blog! Need to update soon!
Hi, have you tried to put RM25 or RM50 into your debit card?
Paypal do need few USD to add your debit card into paypal.
If you have no credit in your debit card, they will not allow you to add the debit card.
I saw another article from another people facing this problem, but he is using PB Debit Card. After he added some fund into his debit card, then he can successful added his debit card into paypal.

Hi Hassu. If your issuing bank says your card can be for online payments, you can use that card for online payment through PayPal. Most card do support online transaction except cards like Maybank’s Visa Debit card.

Well, thats strange. cause after yesterday’s pot, I tried it myself. and finally Paypal accepted my Maybank Dedit Card. But when I try to verify my card, in M2U, it only showed in the “Today’s Translation” as ” PRE-AUTH DEBIT” and didnt give me the 4 digit code needed to verfiy my card and than the “Debit card history” didn’t show any transaction so guessed I have to wait for maybank to update it. This morning, I try again checking M2U and *proof* “PREAUTH SALE PAYPAL” with the code was there in the debit history. I typed into paypal and paypal accepted it but it say it needs a max of 24 hours before giving back my money from the verification process. So now, I still waiting for paypal to complete its process and give me back my USD1.95.
p/s: WTH !@#$ i dont know is it paypal or maybank that chraged me something extra “10-Jul-2009 PREAUTH SALE PAYPAL DATED 10/07/09 US$1.00 RM1.02 “. strangely the conversation rate is wrong but maybank deducted RM1.02 from me. but the actual card verification transaction is another USD1.95 RM7.11

Ok. I finally completed my paypal verification using my Maybank Dedit Card. But it took 3 days for paypal to credit back me. But i think the delay was cause by maybank cuz i did on friday night but they credit me back on monday. meaning 1 working day to process i dont know la.
But from my m2u acc, i see paypal has pre-auth debit and later credit back to my m2u and than finally debit me again for the “Sale Debit”.
Conclusion, i’m good to go already with my paypal

i still dont know where did 1.02 go. i dont know my actual amount before the charge >.<
I got the same 1.02 problem and I can confirm that amount is really deducted from my account.
I have called Maybank and they will investigate it

i got it back too.. but still didn’t know what does it for..
the money is for pre-authentication of ur card. they try it to see if its working or not, when they have successfully follow the process and activating ur account, they will refund the money back, and u were not charged for anything. it means u can use paypal already. and buy or sell. but guys, do u know if the u selling something, and paypal gets the money for u, how do u use maybank to retrieve the money eh?

hey im having the same problem as you guys. my maybank account transaction stated a PRE-AUTH DEBIT RM1.02 earlier but maybank did not return me the RM1.02 after i confirmed the card. however, the USD1.95(PRE-AUTH REFUND RM6.99) was credited back a few days ago. and theres another “SALE DEBIT RM6.91″ which was charged to my account on the same day the RM6.99 was refunded. anyone has any idea of why is this happening? or has anyone encountered this before?

i linked the card at paypal and now waiting for codes from paypal……

yes. its takes maybank at least1 day before u can see any transaction in ur debit history as a pre-auth payment… later a few days, maybank will credit the preauth and finally charge the actual and final amount

Hi spawnkumar. If your current balance is not enough for a payment/purchase, PayPal will charge the remaining amount to your card.
When you buy things online using PayPal, you will just be required to enter your username and password of your PayPal account on PayPal’s site (not any other page).

Hi Emily. Many people are also facing the same technical problem in the past month making payment via PayPal with their Maybank Visa Debit card attached.
Even requesting the other party to request funds from your account also does not work.
My temporary solution was I used my other debit card with Public Bank Visa Electron. Apologies. I can’t help much when there is a technical problem between Maybank and PayPal. Your settings and verification are all fine.

Then I playing around with the send money, I try change the send money currency from US Dollar to Malaysian Ringgit and now it came out another different error message “You may not use your existing credit cards to fund this payment. Please add a different type of card or use a bank account.”
From what I know for Malaysian PayPal account, you can’t add/retrieve fund from your debit card into your paypal account, the only way u can get fund into your paypal account is from someone who sent you money with their paypal account.
You can’t transfer fund from your debit card into your paypal account, u can just send money out and your debit card will automatically be deducted, but now the problem we both facing right now is the error message appeared, sighs….!

i’ve been using it to withdraw my fund lots of time, if not mistaken each tranx paypal charge usd 5. max withdraw usd 500/day.
my only problem with maybank2u is da online TT. I’ve tried to use it to TT, and my supplier keep telling me tat they din received (i have TT them manually many time without any problem). the money is like lost in da air…so if TT, ill keep using manual TT. any1 have da same experience?
